Creationists hit the big screen
Those wacky creationsits are at it again. This time it's a film Expelled: no intellignece allowed. This film is a documentary that looks at the "Intelligent Design". Cue lot's of shots designed to make scientists (i.e. those that don't agree with ID) look bad, silly, stupid, evil, etc, etc and those who believe in ID reasonable, intelligent, open, etc, etc. New Scientist has a review of the film. There's already websites set up to discredit the film (I always find it amazing how quickly these things happen!).
I'm not going to pass comment on the film becuase I haven't seen it and I have better things to do with my time, however, it causing something of a stir in the blogosphere for various reasons.
If you do see the film (have you nothing better to do? ), then do let me know if it's as bad as it looks.
One thing I will say though - if a creationist film can garner so much attention, is there scope for a scientific film in the same vein? Could we do a geology film - explaining to people all about geology from 1st principles in an interesting way, such that a film makes cash? I suppose the main reason why this doesn't happen is that such a film is "mainstream" in that it'll be repeats of what's on TV channels such as the Discovery channel or BBC (I'm thinking Walking with Dinos, Planet Earth, Earth Story, the one with Dr Iain Stewart, etc, etc - these all "teach" the mainstream view) - how would you make such a film so exciting that people would pay to see it?

Expelled Exposed as Expelled.
This will help it rise the search rankings so the less enlightened are more likely to find it.
