Help Wanted Identifying Unusual Stone

Oct 12 12:38

My dad found this unusual stone many years ago whilst strolling along a beach on the South Coast of England (he can't remember which one). It's made up of three smooth spheres that appear to have been fused together. The stone is lighter along the joins and they have a sandy texture. My dad thought it was a lump of old iron, but it is not magnetic and not as heavy. I was wondering if anyone out there might know what it is and how it came to be on the South Coast.

Many Thanks!

Paul.

(Photo 1 shows the true colour of the stone, the other two are a bit washed out because of the use of flash. Apologies for the poor quality!)

We've had these on GR before - it seems the UK's most mystery pebble.

Try typing marcasite in the search box for the other posts
