I need advice

At the moment I am studying geology A level and I don’t want to go strait to university I would prefer to get some hands on experience so I was wondering if there was any sort of apprenticeship type jobs in geology I could get with an geology A level.

Your help would be most appreciated

Hmmm...not that I know of.

Hmmm...not that I know of. Most oil companies, etc would require you to be on a geology degree for some kind of internship as far as I know.

What kind of work were you looking for? Perhaps we can start from there? A few options that sping to mind:
- Oil/Gas companies
- Some kind of research (?)
- Environemntal companies
- BGS

Robbos?

I'm with Jon on this, most companies would want a degree.

Since you are in North Wales you could try Robertson Research International Ltd in Llandudno (www.robresint.co.uk). They might have some geological technician type jobs.

I'm not sure how you'd go

I'm not sure how you'd go about getting a research assisstant post (or some description). Might be worth emailing your "local" university (with a geology department of somekind Winking ) and asking.

The best tactic is to write a professional and clear email, asking for what you want. The only other way is asking people who have contacts. Unfortunately, I don't know of anyone in Edinburgh Uni with suitable work...
