Found this ??? in the middle of a cow pasture in Bastrop, Texas.   Seems to have a sandstone type texture. It's as heavy as it looks. 2-3 lbs maybe. It looks and feels like it's a piece of iron or metal but it has no magnetic qualities

When i first saw it, I thought..."now this is the strangest cow patty I've ever seen!" haha.

Maybe it's my Grandfather's left-over stew!

Has anybody ever seen anything like this?

It is an iron concretion in sandstone. Iron has preferentially precipitated along joints in the sandstone and is subsequently more resistant to weathering than the host sandstone.

Thanks for the quick response! So much for my 'cow patty' theory!
