GeologyRocks

GeologyRocks uses a system of points and ranks to encourage users to contribute to the site. Points are awarded for submitting various types of contents and simply participating. See the “How to Contribute” help pages to see the number of points you receive for different content types.

So what's the point in points? As you acquire points, you move our ranking system which is based on Moh's Hardness scale. The scale is:

• Talc: <50 points
• Gypsum: 50-points
• Calcite: 100-points
• Fluorite: 250-points
• Apatite: 500-1points
• Feldspar: 1000-1points
• Quartz: 1500-2points
• Topaz: 2500-3points
• Corundum: 3500-5points
• Diamond: >5points
• ?

As you move up the ranks your picture associated with the rank will change. You will also get the chance to earn some prizes! When you reach Feldspar you will receive a GeologyRocks mug, mouse mat or magnetic sign. When you reach Diamond you will receive a GeologyRocks T-shirt or sweatshirt along with some exclusive GeologyRocks underwear!
