I chose Mesozoic because of the dinos.  I just think it would be awesome to see a huge brachiosaurus walking around, as well as all the other large animals.

I chose Precambrian because one doesn't have to worry about palaeontology (much).

Palaeozoic

I chose Palaeozoic because I think most of the interesting things happened during that time. Life gained hard parts, plants and animals moved onto land. Britain gained it's interesting geological areas in the Caledonian and Variscan orogenies and on and on.

Plus I've never lived anywhere that wasn't sited on these rocks (provided you ignore one summer in London!).

Paleozoic

I chose Paleozoic, specifically the Carboniferous period. This is largely because the rocks in my local area come from within that geological era, and I can gain a far more intimate knowledge of the local geology than I ever will of more distant areas.
