next stop New Zealand, or maybe Hawaii, it depends on how energetic i'm feeling. at the moment after that monster holiday not ery, sun and sea and free-flowing volcanoes sounds best
A few chunks of the pumice type rock from Tungurahua's land slide of doom. I shall fish them out when i finally start unpacking. 8)
Oh some interesting facts for you about Obsidian Baylor
Quote:
Obsidian is a very protective stone which is excellent for removing negativity and protecting against psychic attacks. It is particularly effective in protecting the gentle from abuse. Obsidian is a very grounding and very healing stone which benefits the stomach, intestines and muscle tissue, and can help eliminate bacterial or viral infections. It sharpens and focuses vision, helping one to deal with with buried issues before they erupt into serious problems. Obsidian is related to the root chakra.
Doesn't mention the nasty lung diseases you get when it is inhaled as small particles though
But I guess having a centred chakra more than compensates!!
Serious question: How did you go about organising that trip? It looks great. Was it through a trekking company? Was any actual climbing (ropes etc) involved. I'd love to go myself.
Cost me loads of money and I don't think i'd do it like that again, but you have to start somewhere with doing trekking like that, and also it was my first south American expirence so wanted to do it properly.
The ropework wasn't technical, the guides did it all. used crampons and ice axes on Carihuairazo as a practise because that was a gentle slope. Then on cotopaxi we practised in the day with the ropes and crampons but it wasnt hard (the ropework that is not the climbing that was monsterous).
I would recommend very good trekking boots (servere waterproofing needed!! and your own mountain capable boots just for comfort.
Theres loads of companys that do that sort of thing, they are great if you dont have the flexibility to just go out to somwhere are go with the flow.
