UKGE Hammers

Hammers

Hammers are an essential tool for any geologist. We recommend the wooden handled hammers as they produce less shock in your wrist. The handles are also more easily replaced. Chose the hammer weight based on the field localities you will be visiting most often. A 2lb hammer is no good for fossils in shales, but a 8oz hammer is no good for metamorphics! There is no such thing as an all-round hammer weight, but if you only want to buy one hammer, go for a 16oz one.
