Redcar mudstone with glacial deposits

  • Location: Robin Hood's Bay
  • Date Taken (dd-mm-yy): 4-6-07

Redcar Mudstone Formation in Robin Hood's Bay (wave cut platform and cliff). The formation consists of mudstones, shales and siltstones. Overlaying the mudstone is Pleistocene boulder clay. The sandy area on the left of the photograph is a glacial channel fill consisting of medium-grained sand. This marks the centre of the fold that can be seen in the bay.
