Sat, 02/10/2007 - 16:31Whats to say about it really! Umm...It depends what you know about the Students union at our particular university, as everyone is different! We had a geology society before, but it collapsed due to lack of interest! So i set this up, with some help from friends, almost 2 years ago now!
You have to volunteer to do it, and then be elected into position, but once it is all set up we have a few guest speakers in, and run a few field trips in the local area.
Most of our speakers have been ex-students, there have been a few outsiders that our lecturers have previously worked with, i'm given a contact for them, and have to organise a date and time etc. Ive been pretty lucky, as the society is separate from the course, but our lecturers have been more than willing to help! We even get free transport for our trips! And with funding from the Students Union, we manage to keep things low cost!

I love geology, mostly because of the field trips in the big outdoors!!!
I came across this forum a while ago and have been reading around a bit before i signed up, and i hope i can become a valuble member here!
