My mum went out and booked us a week's holiday in Kos (departing 18th October) this morning! Now I was upset at first as we had planned to go to Lanzarote, so I could visit the Timanfaya park, but unfortunately it was a little out of my price range (I'm poor!!) and we couldn't find any holidays going on the dates my mum took off work.
But...
then I read about Nisyros island and the volcano you can walk across!!!! a trip to the volcano is included in our holiday so I'm over the moon about that. My first trip to a Greek island too!
Hopefully I can bring back some pieces of lava and sulphur for my rock collection!! And I'll have to write a new Lahar story too!
I finally fulfilled my dreams of walking across the Nisyros volcano crater and it was awesome!!!!!!
I took some great photos and I'll share them with you guys when I get them developed tomorrow. Also I purchased some great pumice and obsidian samples for my ever growing rock collection.
But...I looked all over Nisyros - and I didn't meet any sexy volcanologists!!
Maybe I'll have more luck when I visit Etna next year.
But I did get to meet the captain on our flight home, quite a hottie, but I would have preferred a volcanologist.
You must of had a good time: 8 lots of !
You're going to Etna?
Some people get all the luck - The furthest i have travelled lately is to cornwall campus of Exeter uni!
Yeh I'v been to Nisyros, quite a treck in a bus that seems it will either fall over the edge of the clime up the churning hills, or sufficate you to death due to the lack of cleaning taking place. I went when i was around 14 so not realy into that sorta stuff but was quite an experiance being able to look straight down at the boiling surface. Go if you can, worth it!
