I know there is a posted opinion of Simon's "Krakatoa" and "Map That Changed the World" books, but I like to think that Simon's has been able to bring some geology books to the front of the Barnes & Noble stores. His explanation of geologic concepts is good for the lay person and may have appeal to the masses. I read "The Crack at the Edge of the World" about the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and remain happy with his depiction of geology and the way things work. It's infinitely better that reading some inaccurate, misrepresented treatment of geology (by non-geologists or YEC geologists with a mission).
