There's nothing like reviving a flagging post is there?

Random thoughts:

I've got computer problems.
I've got financial problems as well.
I've got problems with the kids
And grandkids.
And my work colleagues.
And one of the cats.
And some fellow climbers.
And cavers.
And the RSPB want me to sell badges.
I forgot our wedding anniversary and couldn't do anything to compensate.
I normally can come up with some chronically bad excuse, but this time I couldn't.
Can't think of much else.
Apart from all that I'm feeling really positive.

I severly dislike spanish, and I severely dislike that I have to take 3 classes of it so I can be up to level 4 proficient.

Yeah, I did Spanish once. It was much easier than French, even though the school had already been attempting to teach me French for some years when I started Spanish. Far fewer words in Spanish, and easier to pronounce. Also people in Italy and Portugal can just about understand you. 8)

1. Work piling up and all they want is for me to attend meetings.
2. Why can't they put 'kipping corners' in meeting room?
3. 'Er Indoor is down to one crutch now and moving faster.
4. I shall probably get my comeupance for all the 'Arhhh Jim lad' and attempts to put a stuffed bird on her shoulder now.
5 I wonder why she is sharpening the end of her crutch?
6. She's trying to get me to get rid of my beloved Volvo because of the repair bills.
7. She wants me to take the two dismantled greenhouses up to the tip.
8. I say we should re-mantle them elsewhere.
9. Any one want a couple of greenhouses free? I hate waste.
10. Waiting to know if I have got a cancellation slot at the Oxford Mineral Show on Sunday.
11.Feeling a bit under the weather. Going to bed. Goodnight all.

Arrh, John Lad...pieces of eight.

I've already got a remantled greenhouse, covered in plastic since the storms broke all the glass, so no thanks. I just want to get shot of the thing. We've also got a micro-greenhouse bought at a garden show, waste of space but quite entertaining when it took off into next-door's garden. Trashed her begonias.

hmm, i'll take a greenhouse. can you drop it by my house this weekend? tomorrow (saturday) would be best for me.

I like cold pizza

I built a box for one of my speakers out of Lego's, I kinda like it except it leaks air a little.

My environmental geology teacher made up this 45 minute long fairytale story to make two very, very small points at the end today. oh well, i guess it's a day of stuff that won't be on the test.

I need to buy some new shoes. I've worn the same model pretty much everyday for the last 4 years (on my third pair during that span), and the pair I have now is getting worn. they've lasted 1.75 years, that's pretty good.

Found out my two week geology class this summer is basically just a big road trip, traveling in vans and camping as we travel through 4 states looking at outcrops and whatnot. I have a feeling it's gonna be real fun.

I have a suspicion that I may be working myself out of a job. My job description just entails putting these logs into a spreadsheet, and I'm already 1/4 done after only a week! and this job was supposed to last until the end of june. hmm, maybe I should slow down? hopefully they have other things for me to do.

1. Got a filthy cold.
2 I'm bloody miserable because of 1 above.
3. Shivering and aching. Glad I'm not a woman or I might think it was bird flu. ( No, its not a sexist remark - because I didn't coin the phrase!)
4. I am NOT going to Canada this weekend to deliver a greenhouse.(KU40 note please!)
5. Was going to the Oxford Mineral Show tomorrow, but I have fallen out with the organiser.
6. Don't think I really wanna go anywhere tomorrow ( see 1 above!)

1. I'm from the US of A John! so that means you could have delivered it to me.
2. possible small tornados went through my city today. the power on my block was off from 8 am (time of the storm) till 11 pm. Of course we were the last ones to get our power fixed, just like last time. The city must hate us.
3. the strong winds in the storm messed up many trees, signs, roofs, etc., in a SW/NE direction right through town. The University campus got hit a bit, a couple buildings had roof damage and whatnot. but apparently there is enough damage to cancel classes tomorrow so they can clean it up. no classes is ok with me! especially since I was supposed to have a test.

Sorry, I didn't see your post until this morning, so it was too late to take the greenhouse over, otherwise I would have. Although what you'd want to do with a few bits of mangled aluminium is beyond me.

Had a pants weekend:
Picked an argument with stepdaughter over her contribution to the housework.
Went birdwatching at Porth reservoir and all the birds were on holiday elsewhere.
Chucked it down on Sunday when I wanted to go climbing.
Couldn't get on the computer because somebody was on eBay all day, claiming it's all in aid of the holiday fund. As if we could go on holiday for £1.51.

Whereabouts in Spain is your trip to? I went to the south of Spain for my third year fieldtrip (I can't remember the name of the place but it was somewhere in or near the Sierra Nevada mountains).

Have fun anyway, has got to be better weather than we have here at the moment!

Mucho Brownie points - I've been made Station Conservation Officer!
I can now go around being heavy and telling farmers off.
Which is right up my street.
Took the Station Commander for a drive to show him the diversity of habitats.
he might have been impressed.
But his eyes kept glazing over.

Congrats on becoming Station Conservation Officer

If you're wandering about telling local farmers off, does that mean that you're more likely to see some of these big cats they've been talking about on the news?

The beast of Bodmin? Not seen it yet. There are many who says it exists though, lurking around Dozmary Pool, said to be bottomless, when the mists are swirling and the moon is full and my facial hair becomes rather excessive. Aawwhoooo!!!!

1. Am annoyed because the local archery club have messed me about a bit by telling me to do one thing but it turns out I have to do something else, which means that even though I have now bought my bow I still cannot go and use it!
2. Am going to watch ER. Bye!

Had a great weekend. Saw a firecrest at St Austell sewage works on Friday (only about 150 in Britain) and a turtle dove round the back of a silage clamp on a farm in west Cornwall on Saturday. Froze me nuts off on both occasions. Ok not everybody's idea of fun but the turtle dove takes our species list to 200, so cause for celebration. An eat all you can for £6.50 at Indian Summer, Newquay, including onion bhagees, partially funded by finding £1.65 on Fistral Beach with the metal detector. And a free bottle of coke to take home because they know me there. It's what life's all about. The little things.

We saw a Redwing the other day...I don't know if they're rare or not

1. eek, had forgotten that the phone bill payment was due today
2. So now I have no money for a while
3. We've finally fixed the leaky washing machine pipe (we think)
4. Off to the cinema tomorrow evening

They're not particularly rare but they can be quite localised, and they're always good to see. They come from northern Scandinavia about November, overwinter here, and they should be going back now. Well, not this precise minute, but you know what I mean.

Got seriously clobbered at a chess match last night by someone who obviously thinks they're so fantastic it's a wonder the World Champion isn't losing sleep over it. I'm not a sore loser but I can't stand people who strut around like that. I couldn't resist offering him a rematch in the car park, joking-like, but it quietened him down a bit.

I lose at chess to my 13-year-old brother (and have been since he was about 9!) so I can't imagine what it's like to be able to gloat when you've won Winking

1. hmmm...first day of Spring today, but it doesn't feel like it
2. wonder if it's going to get warmer soon
3. I need to stop biting my nails
4. maybe I should take up a hobby to distract me from biting them...

It's a beautiful day in Edinburgh: sun is shining, the smell of brewries is in the air...Still a bit cold though.

And I'm stuck inside working...grrr
