I don't think there is any
Tue, 01/28/2014 - 18:23I don't think there is any rock that driller can't get through. However hardness increases drilling time and therefore increases costs. Perhaps there is insufficient water down there to make it viable.
Without knowing where you are none of us could even guess at the under lying geology.
Even when you tell us, you must remember that this is a UK site and most of us have a very limited knowledge of specific geology over the rest of the world. But hopefully we may be able to point you in the right direction.

Sometimes, under farmland
Sun, 02/02/2014 - 20:15Sometimes, under farmland which has been intensively cultivated, you get a phenomenon called plough pan which is a rock hard concentration of iron minerals just below the surface which forms an impenetrable barrier. Is this what you mean?

Rocks under farming land
Submitted by sab201 on Mon, 01/27/2014 - 16:00.Good Day All,
My dad owns a farming land and it was not possible to do cultivation due to the presence of rock underground due to which water cannot be raised from underground to the surface. According to him it was difficult to drill and do boring for getting underground water due to the presence of rock underneath, the reason which the farmland has not been used.
I am looking forward for any valuable advice from our forum members so as what can be done to solve the problem with the rocks, and if the rocks could contain any minerals which can be harnessed. If not, how to break these rocks to reach for the water.
Many thanks in advance for your response.
