Indentification help!

Hi Guys,

A family friend of mine - with no geological traning - is convinced he's dug up a meteorite!

The pictures of his find can be found on his Flickr page, here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/76579134@N05/

To me it just looks like a load of chert, but I just want a second (or perhaps a few) opinion(s). The surface is obviously the part that makes it look perculiar but the internal structure looks crystalline like a sandstone or perhaps a metasediment. Any further light the community can shed on this specimen would be gratefully received.

 Thanks

John

Certainly not a meteorite.

Certainly not a meteorite.  Possibly a quartzite, hence the 'sandy' looking inside and the glazed outside.

It's difficult to say what

It's difficult to say what it is.  My first impression is that it could be an impure limestone as there are what appears to be solution features.  Not a meteorite though.
