I'm certain what you've got
Fri, 08/31/2012 - 08:14I'm certain what you've got is a sedimentary rock, probably a greywacke or sandstone with has been injected with quartz veinlets and has also probably been subjected to low-grade metamorphism which hasn't actually changed the original rock much but created the fractures that the quartz has occupied. This is typical of an area which has been subjected to sedimentation and associated igneous activity.

Help! Strange Rock Identification - Scotland
Submitted by Rheadz on Thu, 08/30/2012 - 10:12.Hi All,
I am hoping someone can help me identify this rather peculiar rock I found. The rock was found on the Isle Of Arran, Scotland (where we live), which is quite famous for it's Geology.
Photos below. It seems to feel quite heavy for it's size and weighs half a pound. Let me know if you can shed any light on it!
