help reading understanding geology maps

hello all.   amature prospector here.  I live in the west of australia and detect alot for gold.     i use a site called geoview which maps out the state,   however i am at a loss to understand what most of it means to me. and i am wandering around the desert fining nothing.   can anyone tell me what 1:2.5m linear structure fault mean?

A linear structure (I

A linear structure (I belive) can be applied to almost any fault which forms a line.  Not a term in general use in UK.

As John says, it's not a

As John says, it's not a term that's used in the uk.  The ratio could undicate the underlie of the fault, in other words the angle it descends into the ground.

Could you post a scan of the map so we can see what it is you are looking at,  pictures paint a thousand words so to speak :D 

To me the  "1:2.5m" seems to be the scale, and  "linear structure fault" is the description of the fault?
