Dug it out of the bed of a tidal stream near the pacific.

It looks like weathered

It looks like weathered iron-stained quartz to me.

Iron stained quartz cannot

Iron stained quartz cannot be bent. Quartz and or iron are hard and brittle. I tried to snap it in half and it bent.

Note the odd shape, quartz does not form shapes like this. 

Any more ideas?

It's either iron-stained

It's either iron-stained quartz or a partially fossilised flip-flop.  Or an alien's eyeball, etc.
