Calc-sinter

Is calc-sinter (a term used in some 19th century works) calcite, aragonite or what? Any help much appreciated! There is an article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calc-sinter

Looks like it's a term

Looks like it's a term describing any kind of solid, flowstone-like deposit of calcium carbonate formed by fresh water. Could be calcite or aragonite from what I can gather.

I doubt you'll be able to narrow it down too much anyway as terminology in that area isn't too clear at the best of times.

Thanks, we found a ref

Thanks, we found a 19th century reference giving it as a synonym of calcareous tufa, which seems about right!
