Fossil identification please!

Can anybody tell me what this is please?  It came out of the clay from a building site in Bucknall, the reverse side (well most of it) is actually flint.

Horn Coral?

I think it might be a badly weathered horn coral fossil.

If it's Bucknall near Stoke

If it's Bucknall near Stoke where it came from it's more likely to be a fossil Carboniferous plant (looks a bit like a root system and base of a plant) in what looks like sandstone rather than flint.

Can you take another photo,

Can you take another photo, bit closer, and this time put a ruler in front so we can see the dimensions? Also take it from the side, and also the back of the rock, so we can see all angles.
