Short answer - No. They are

Short answer - No.

They are best left where they are really.  If you extract them, you will only have to feed them and take them for walks.

John

(sorry, my warped SOH gets the better of me sometime (most times) and I can't imagine why anyone would want to extract these beasties.

They don't eat much!

John, they don't eat much! And walks don't take long because they have really short legs. You blokes are getting too dang lazy.

I can think of a great reason to extract these guys. So you can put them on microscope slides and enjoy their comical behavior.

Venus, take a small sample of your material and put it in a glass of vinegar. The vinegar should dissolve some of the limestone and you will get a little sludge in the bottom of the glass. Examine the sludge with a microscope and you might find some of the little critters.

Edit : I forgot to mention that it may take anywhere from a few hours to a few days to get a sludge.
