If we just go back to when I
Fri, 05/10/2013 - 17:16If we just go back to when I was at school in the '50s, which may seem a long time ago to you, but believe me it is like yesterday to me, we learnt that there were 96 elements, and that elements could neither be made nor destroyed.
Since then I think we are now up to about 110 elements (admittedly some are very short lived) and we have radio active decay of a mother element changing to a daughter element.
On that basis, it would be folly to rule out the possibility of other elements on Earth, far less other planets or in space.

Could there be new elements?
Submitted by LettuceBeCereal on Wed, 05/08/2013 - 22:34.The solar nebular hypothesis says that a huge cloud of molecular gas spins and contracts while at the center (the sun) where all the energy and pressure are concentrated, causes self sustatining thermo nuclear reactions to take place it requires A HUGEEE amount of eneregy to do so
is it possible that in another Solar system beyond our reach the molecular gas that was rotating was more dense hence causing more pressure and heat at the center? causing the fushion of heavier elements than the ones we have in our solar system?
i don't know i have always found that possiblity to be really intresting maybe if i am correct there could life form that depends on different elements ?
