Sun, 03/16/2014 - 15:35My first thought on the first picture was that it is box iron. There is an old quarry just a couple of miles away which looks very similar, and when they drained some off the water from the Westbury Pit (where the White Horse is and King Alfred burnt the cakes and thrashed the Danes) just 5 miles down the road I saw the same box iron formation. That was quarried by the Romans.
Then I looked at the rest of your pictures, and I really feel now that it is man made. Its all too square and too regular I think.
Any thoughts Gus?

Need Help Identifying!
Submitted by Jevosmv on Thu, 03/13/2014 - 17:04.Hello to all! First off, I am new to this site, and I hope to learn and gain new knowledge along the way. The reason for this post is that I have stumbled onto a boulder in Tennessee, USA, and I cannot identify if these marks are man made, a fossil, or a strange natural formation. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
