Tue, 06/24/2008 - 08:53Hello! Welcome to GR. Starting a new adventure is always exciting
There's lot's of geology near you, but my expertise is across the bridges around Edinburgh. If you wish to venture that far then this book is very good indeed ![]()
Thanx for the welcome
Tue, 06/24/2008 - 10:44Hi Jon, thanx, I may head that way at somepoint, but planning on going round some areas in Fife first although stuck without transport for the moment. Im looking for information on some local sites just now before starting to move further afield. Im hoping to revisit the Rock & Spindle near St Andrews which I recall visiting when I was about 10 or 11. Although at that time we were more interested in playing in the rock pools haha.
heh, what are the odds? I

I just realised I never introduced myself, and here I find another Dundonian!!
Anyway, I love geology as a hobby, I'm a bit of a rock hound which annoys the other half because there's very little room left on our windowsills!!
Anyway, I may post all my rocks up here, because at least you lot might not get bored to death by me and my rocks ![]()
This is a great site btw.......

Hi from Dundee, Scotland
Submitted by Dazx on Sun, 06/22/2008 - 21:03.Heya everyone, just signed up and thought I`d say hello, I come from Dundee, Scotland. I`ve had a fascination for the geology and fossils of the UK since I read a book on the subject when I was about 12 but have never really done anything with that interest until now. I am just starting out on a new adventure and I`m looking forward to my new hobby. I`m hoping to visit some local areas to look at some in situ fossils soon. IE carboniferous tree stumps on Crail beach in Fife, shale dumped on the beach at East Weymes which contain some examples of leaves etc, and hope to find some other sites soon. I concider myself to be a total noob apart from information I`ve digested from watching programs on the tv and reading the occasional book.
