Hello! I am a geology student

Hello everyone. I am  a geology student and the reason I joined this forum is in order to gather information which would really help me a lot in my undertakings. And also, I would like to ask if you people out here have some PDF of Geology-related books and some softwares? It would really mean a lot to me if you will give me a copy.Thanks.

Hi and welcome to GR!

Hi and welcome to GR!  Certainly we will help all we can, but we won't do your work for you.

Actually we upset someone so much recently by refusing to answer someone who had literally posted a coursework question that he climbed out of his pram and threw his teddy in the corner!

I posted a link just a few weeks ago to download a freeby of 'Earths Dynamic Systems' .   Hopefully I still have that link somewhere, but you could look back through some of the posts to try and find it yourself.

I have a number  of various sorts of geo publications on my pc.  Some downloaded, some scanned.  I would suggest that when you find something you want to read up on just post on here and I'll see what I can do.

Whereabouts are you studying?  How long have you been doing it?

 Sorry.  No interactive

Sorry.  No interactive istudy anything's.  I learnt my geology the old fashioned way.  From books and in the field getting wet and cold.  It worked believe it or not.

Dana's System is a little outdated now - although I still have a soft spot for it.

Most mineral dealers use Fleischer.  Glossary of Mineral Species (actually by Michael Fleischer & Joseph A. Mandarino - but just generally known as 'Fleischer') published by The Mineralogical Record Inc.  Tucson.   There is no ISBN number in mine.  That may have changed now - I've been slack and mine is 1995! and this is a bi annual (I believe) publication.  Perhaps I'd better update. This is only a comparatively small but gives a huge amount of information, but more for identification purposes.  Quite difficult to follow unless you are playing with minerals all day every day.

Then there is Rutley's Elements of Mineralogy. I have the 27th Edition (1988!)  Revised by C.D. Gribble. ISBN 0-04-549011-2. This is a much more comprehensive text book.

A much larger 'version' of Fleisher is The Encyclopaedia of Minerals - Roberts, Campbell & Rap.  I have the second edition from 1990 and it was £90 then.
