My real name is Vincent McConnell. I am a huge fan of mostly volcanic geology. I find myself interested in vesicular basalts I might find at a nearby lava flow about 160 miles from my home. I try to go to "Pisgah Crater" any chance I get -- which is once every few months, as I have to bug my dad into going. I am 16 years old, live in Orange County, California and have begun researching lava flows as part of my undying interest in the Apollo Moon Landings -- to which my name is a reference. Of course, I have come here to learn more and more about geology on a grander scale, but I am planning on an expedition to Pisgah sometime in March for my largest sample return journey yet. Elsewhere, I'd like to post about this trip, nicknamed "Expedition 4" and get some advice from geologists of much greater caliber. I look forward to learning a significant amount of information here and getting help on my trips to Pisgah. I currently have in my posession a collection of basalts, but nothing to the scale of which I would like. For all who are willing to assist in my trip and planning my sample returns, that would be great.
"Whoopee! That may have been a small one for Neil, but that's a long one for me." -Pete Conrad, Apollo 12.
For those who prefer, my real name is Vincent McConnell and I am welcome to learn about geology.
Hi Vincent and welcome to GR. As you've probably seen, there's only a fewof us so-called "experts" on the forum but between us I think we've got most things covered.
