What kind of rock is this?

What kind of rock is this?

I have a small black rock here at home that I can't indentify. I'd appreciate if someone can try to help me indentify it.

Sounds like it could be either metamorphic, igneous, sedimentary or a mineral.

 Without more information, I can only assume it's a sex stone (just another friggin' rock).

A picture would help, some characteristics would be even better. Hardness, cleavage, luster, streak, etc...

 Its black, and pretty heavy, looks like its some minerals in it.
