Hi all,
I was doing some gardening the other day (a rare event in my calendar I can tell you), and was weeding my gravelled front garden. The stone has come from a local quarry site (although I suspect they import different types from other sources).
Within the gravel are fossillized sea shells and strange round tubular stones, presumably some other kind of shell-living organism. Yesterday however, I found this:
it measures about 25mm across its longest dimension and is heavier than a normal kind of stone, it clearly must have some iron content as its rusting also. The question is... where did it come from, is it a meteorite or just a piece of molten slag from iron forming? Any comments/assistance would be great.
It's some form of iron concretion or perhaps some kind of bean ore nodule. A weathering profuct of iron rich rocks and soils. Perhaps with some sort of transport connected to it before deposition.

Odd rock containing iron, possible meteorite?
