It would help if you could

It would help if you could tell us where it came from.  It looks igneous, possible a pegmatite.

I live in Cornwall but it

I live in Cornwall but it doesn't look familiar.  It could be from Scotland.  I'm still going for pegmatite or possibly a fine-grained gneiss.

I wouldn't expect a gabbro

I wouldn't expect a gabbro to have so much white in it.  Would you agree Gus?   Obviously they vary from place to place.

It doesn't look like gabbro

It doesn't look like gabbro to me either for the same reasons as John.  I'm still inclined towards pegmatite, which can be highly variable in grain size but has a largely similar look.

Strangely, I am currently in

Strangely, I am currently in south Cornwall, and having beemn at Coverack today I have seen gabbros with this amount of white in.

These are part of the ophiolite sequence - although I gather that there is a new theory that the Lizard is not an obduction, but a pluton.   It makes sense in some cases, but not in others,.

And no, we didn't find the Moho.
