Blue rock found

Hello and thank you for this forum.

 

I found this stone by the side of the path whilst  walking through a local Middlesex wood,  UK.

 

It is like flint in every way, other than its  colour - beautiful blue/green tones that blend and also mix like a stick of rock.  Very weathered with no really sharp or fresh edges.

It's very pretty etc but it's actually slag from iron smelting.  However, it could have been produced centuries ago and it might be worth taking it to a local museum to see if there's a record of iron working in the area.
