Congratulations Jenny!

Congratulations Jenny!  Since its 'chick lit' would you mind if I give it a miss please?  lol  Read the blurb.... and I suppose the next one will be about a girl who tracks down a geologist and marries him in a quarry, in the pouring rain and the bride and groom  run under an arch of geological hammers held aloft by soggy geologists, who then all repair to the local hostelry as is their want.

STOP JENNY!!!!! That was a  tongue in cheek scenario!

I'm afraid your plot seems a little thin on the ground John, it could do with a few more twists and turns, or dare I say folds? Something more recumbent, or disharmonic?

LOL!  Clearly, in this

LOL!

Clearly, in this case, it all fell on stoney ground.  I realised it was faulted, but hoped Jenny could make it evolve, sort of metamorphose it - ore at  least hammer something out of it.

My wife finished reading

My wife finished reading some novel last night and burst into tears at the end of the book - don't ask me what it was but it involved someone deciding to die because they were quadraplegic.  She'd previously read the last page for some reason so she knew what to expect but it apparently didn't make any difference.  For about 3 hours she kept me awake by sniffing loudly.  In the end I asked why she wanted to read something that would have such a devastating effect on her, pointing out that it was fiction anyway and the so-called hero of the story was, in my opinion, a selfish git who should have been ashamed of himself.

After a brief bout of further sobbing, followed by getting my head ripped off, I've decided that this chick lit stuff is dangerous and subversive, a bit like the Sound Of Music.

Yes indeed.  People think

Yes indeed.  People think that The Sound of Music is a musical, but its a heavily disguised war film.  And as for that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - well its marginally lessseen that that damn Landing Eagle.   Broadsword calling Danny Boy.

lol ever so sorry you've got that impression, Gus!  Good writing can be pretty powerful though.

And yes, the Sound of Music is quite depressing really.  I'm not a fan.

You'll notice that I

You'll notice that I declined from mentioning the sort of discerning literature that I read.  My main criteria is that a book has to be fast-paced with very short words, a completely ridiculous plot, a "flawed hero" who's addicted to drugs or has a dodgy past, a body count of at least two dozen, no romantic interest, graveyard humour, lots of swearing and a finish which will leave me completely dissatisfied as nobody ever seems to come up with a proper ending.

Alternatively I can curl up in bed with The Metalliferous Mines of Cornwall and be asleep in two minutes.

Proper ending Gus? How

Proper ending Gus? How about, "...and he woke with a start, only to find that it had all been a dream!"?

I'm not sure what to say about your affinity for the anti-hero and excessive violence though!

I'm not sure that rates as a proper ending Ben.

Actually I'm a very laid-back bloke who just happens to like fictional violence at bedtime and extreme heavy metal in the car on the way home from work.  It goes back to when I was a bass player in a thrash band....oh those were the days.
