Well I've always got them until recently, but I don't I know what I did originally to get them.

 By the way, you're not forgotten re the field trip.  But there seems to be a real cock up over this foot of mine (hospital adminstration fail) .  I don't think I dare chance doing anything until its dealt with and healed and as time marches on I think I shall be lucky to do anything before autumn now.

Not a problem re the field trip.  My wife wanted to come along too but she had a back operation a couple of months ago, so if it happens later in the year it's probably better.

I'm sorry to hear you guys are suffering!  Wish you all the best for a swift recovery John and Gus, for your wife.  It'd still be nice to plan a field trip, even for next spring. Get those geological muscles flexing!

Had a letter from the hospital today that they "will remove the lump shortly".  What a technical description!! 

When I first saw the consultant admitted that he didn't know what it was, but assured me that it was nothing to worry about.  Am I missing something here?????

Gus,  Hope your wife is OK and makes a very swift recovery.

This "shortly" in the letter doesn't give me any time frame to even guess at, and I'm down to a very scruffy pair of old deck sandals, my walking boots and one pair of shoes that will still go on!

..........but its nothing to worry about!!!

Thanks John, she's making good progress but it could take up to year before she's fully recovered.  The sooner the better as far as I'm concerned.

I really feel for you both! I can only wish you (and your wife, Gus) all the best and hope thatlife will settle down soon.  And that you don't have to suffer from SHS much longer John

By the way, I spoke to Ben about the problems you had on here John, and the moderation that needs doing, but he started having his own problems posting, which is why he hasn't sorted anything just yet.

The editor finally seems to be working for me! John, try the section to the left entitled "My Account", then use the tab along the top saying "Edit Notification Settings" (or something similar). Check that your email notifications haven't randomly changed!

Sorry to hear about all the health problems and wish you, and your wife too Gus, a speedy recovery.

Things are looking up!  My foot is no longer pregnant (lump nw removed) although well bandaged and I've got to have it elevated for 10 days.  Seemed like a real good skive but 48 hours on I'm getting a bit fed up.

AND .....  the notification has come back to my email.  Did you do that for me Ben?  Thanks if you did.

Nope, no fix from me I'm afraid John. GR seems to be doing whatever the hell it wants at the moment! Lol.

We'll all hopefully get each others email addresses and eventually meet up in a godforsaken wind/rainswept corner of the country where nobody else in their right mind would go, have a quick look at the geology before the weather really closes in and then do a runner to the nearest hospitable location.  Typical field trip.
