I had a summer internship
Fri, 05/08/2009 - 08:54I had a summer internship with BP between my 3rd and 4th year of my degree. It was intensely competitive to get the place, there were only about 5-7 geoscience internships throughout the entire company. I don't think they'd distinguish between nationalities, but I also doubt they'd pay you any movement costs or transport costs for an interview (I may be wrong on this).
I also applied to Shell, Exxon and Chevron but with no success.
I'd advise hitting the company websites of the big oil companies but also remember that a lot of the technical work is carried out by smaller companies that can be trickier to find.
In the end I didn't get offered a full time job with BP. I did a postgraduate Masters and now I work as a geotechnical engineer.

Summer Internships

I go to school in the U.S., HoustonTexas, and I really wanted to get not only the international experience but on the field itself, as i want to get a broad understanding of the oil industry. What opportunities are there in the UK for international students as far as internships?
