How I got here.
Hello everyone! I first came on this site to get help in identifying a rock that I had found. As I found my way around on here and getting to know more people I am really starting to like it. So good job!! Keep it up!!

My dissertation is sitting completed, printed and bound, ready for hand-in tomorrow. After this I will never have to think about limestone again! It goes without saying of course that I will want to think about limestone again, but the point is I won't have to. From here on it's entirely up to me
Creationists hit the big screen
Those wacky creationsits are at it again. This time it's a film Expelled: no intellignece allowed. This film is a documentary that looks at the "Intelligent Design". Cue lot's of shots designed to make scientists (i.e. those that don't agree with ID) look bad, silly, stupid, evil, etc, etc and those who believe in ID reasonable, intelligent, open, etc, etc.

As most of the geoblogosphere has been posting images from their spring field excursions I suppose I'd better post some of mine. Each year I run a field course to Pembrokeshire. I've done now for 13 of the last 14 years and I still don't get tired of doing it (although I do get tired doing it). The geology is superb with classic exposures, evidence of (at least) four orogenies and a really good story to tell.

Well thanks a lot to all of you - you've cost me money . I've had to upgrade the hosting package for GeologyRocks because we were running out of disk space (250Mb fills up quickly!). This is, of course, a good thing and I hope in the near future I'll have to upgrade again!
