I recently bought an old house and found this rock partially buried. I cleaned it up and brought it inside for decoration. I can't seem to ID it. It is approx 18" long and approx 6" deep. I can barely lift it, so also very heavy....anyone?

I have an unusual stone found in my garden about a foot deep which was dug up by my dogs. This item appears to resemble a mans face wearing a wolfskin head dress. It has a side piece protruding out smoothly shaped in a form basically of a V which I perceive as something may have been attached. The right ear has a ledge behind it which I perceive one can rest a forefinger and the right ear appears to have been attached. Is this natural phenomina or man made. It is a most unusual object. What type of stone is this please?

Hey fellow geologists,
I am a 3rd year undergrad studying applied geology at CSM. I am currently working on my dissertation which requires the creation of a neat copy geological map and i would like to use a program other than powerpoint to make it! Does anyone have any experience with vector drawing programs who could recommend any in particular? Ive heard that corel draw and adobe illustrator are pretty good programs but do they have any limitations?
Cheers

Can someone help identify this Volcanic Glass?
My grandmother gave me this. It's about the size of a keyboard, very very heavy, opaque... My grandmother said that she took it to a geologist when she was young and was told it was formed during the last ice age. But how could this be known?
Rank upgrade
I am officially a gypsum-level poster now. Maybe I'll celebrate...or maybe I'll concentrate on moving towards a fine GR prize...
Geology Rocks rank
Love the idea of the GR ranking system and I'm excited to find that I'm almost out of the Talc zone. I'll soon be between one rock and plenty of other harder places.
