History

The following is a brief history of the site in reverse chronological order:

3rd April 2008 - had to update the hosting packge because we've filled 250Mb of disk space with content.
22nd October 2007 - a major update of the style and addition of new features.
18th February 2007 - GeologyRocks 3 goes live. Completely re-implemented in drupal (an excellent CMS). We have several new features, but the main difference is that members can now contribute material via their browser. We also have blogs and whole new look and feel.
11th March 2006 - GeologyRocks 2 opens its doors with lots of new features, including a shop and a much improved look and feel. The site is now written in XHTML and CSS. The forum has had some drastic modifications to make it work better with the rest of the site.
8th November 2005 - The forum was hacked and defaced. Out hosts were unhelpful. We're now at our third host.
11th July, 2004 - Validated site against the HTML 4.01 Transitional standard. All pages but the forum are valid and should display nicely in any browser.
1st June, 2004 - Opened the site to the public on the new hosts with the addition of DinoScene and a Glossary.
January to May, 2004 - Our hosts at the time lose 3 months worth of our data. The site is taken offline until a new host was found.
December, 2002 - GeologyRocks is put on the web for the first time with a forum.
August, 2002 - GeologyRocksis re-written in PHP.
July, 2001 - GeologyRocks is thought of on a mapping trip to Sweden and partly implemented in ASP.
