The people behind the site

The people behind the site for me. Any old nutter can host a website, even if said nutter holds a Ph.D. Reputable organisations like the BGS have it in their best interests to review content and only host what they deem acceptable, as their reputations as well as the author's are at stake if they let any old thing in. This said, I won't accept something as reputable/credible purely on the basis of being hosted by a university/reputable organisation, and I won't automatically discard something from an organisation I've not heard of.
