Most died 65 Ma ago, those that didn't evolved into the birds as Jon and Hypo said. I just watched a tv show about birds and dinos today, actually. Researchers have found that when chickens are in the embryonic stage they actually have like 16 vertabrae in a tail, but as they mature in the egg the tail shrinks down to the 5 they have when hatched. They also found that DNA between dinos and birds are probably very similar, the difference lies in what genes are turned on or off in development. They did some experiments turning on and off genes and found that they could make the embryo keep that long tail, grow teeth, and grow feathers on their legs (which are scaley now, like a dino's were). They also showed how birds have three fingers on their hands that were just evolutionarily modified for flight from the three fingers dinos had, and that wings are just one step away from arms.
