Sorry - really basic question. Is glass a type of quartz?

Always?

Only specialised glass is?

 No?

 or some other answer?

Sorry to ask such a basic question but I can't find a straight answer.

Thanks for your help

if you are talking about

if you are talking about glass like in your house for windows, then yes.  That glass is basically melted and reformed quartz (SiO2).  But if you're talking about different mineral types that may be labeled as "glass," they can have either high or low silica content.

Thank you

Fantastic, yes I meant common or garden house glass (windows, bottles, etc) as opposed to any technical description of a mineral.

Thank you so much for bothering to answer such a mundane question, you have helped me immensely.
