I'm assuming you're from the States? If so you might get a career in mining or petroleum geology. In the UK work is limited but there are some of us who do field trips, lecture and deal in specimens. Probably the best thing is to decide which path you want to go down and do some research.
Geochemistry?

I couldn't really comment on how geochemistry is faring on a global scale but there isn't much going on here apart from very sporadic soil sampling, etc. I was involved in sampling soils in Cornwall to ascertain the level of arsenic contamination from Victorian refineries but that was nearly 40 years ago.

A question about geology careers?
Submitted by ArcherGeologist on Mon, 01/30/2012 - 18:01.Hello,
i'm a new person on this forum. I am a sophmore in high school currently, and i'm looking to pursue a career in science. problem is too many branches lol. so i'm checking each one out. but currently i got my main two: chemistry and geology. I'm asking today the question of, what kind of jobs can i have with a geology career?
and be honest lol, does it make much money or no? sorry for the egocentric second question aside, but i mean come on we all gotta face the truth in asking this.
is there more a chance i can find a sucessful job in geology or chemistry?
thanks,
ArcherGeologist
