Northern lights show Aug. 4 created by solar flare

Tuesday night there is going to be what is called a solar tsunami. Earth saw some particles of sun start flying towards it after an explosion occurred on the sun. A solar tsunami is the giant circular wave rippling across the surface of the sun caused by the solar flare. NASA is preparing for the possibility of solar flare satellite damage. This will create a display of northern lights that is magical.
Sunday was when the solar flare happened. The solar tsunami made certain ionized atoms headed directly towards Earth's magnetic field. The solar flame might hit tonight making for a rare northern lights display and geomagnetic storm, reports Fox News. The space weather could cause solar flare satellite damage, though scientists think that possibility is remote.
Solar tsunami with STEREO
Solar tsunamis emanating from the site of solar flares were confirmed to exist by NASA's Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO). Wired reports that STEREO is two spacecraft pointing at the sun. Earth's orbit is what these spacecrafts go around. The sun seems 3 dimensional because of the way they are positioned. At 560,000 mph, a 60,000 mile high wave of hot plasma and magnetism went across the sun's surface in February of 2009 and was shown by STEREO within the video below.
Rare solar flare on Sunday
Sunday's solar flare (see second video) is a rare space weather event. The Telegraph reports that two almost simultaneous solar flares from different locations on the sun were launched toward the Earth. The first eruption was a very large one that ended up screwing up the Sun's magnetic atmosphere making conditions for the second eruption very good, Dr Lucie Green told the Telegraph. A northern lights show along with a geomagnetic storm could be the result of this.
Show of the northern lights
Solar flares will hit Earth's atmosphere causing the oxygen and nitrogen to hit charged particles from the sun which causes the northern lights show to happen. Small bursts of energy look like light as the particles hit, reports GMTV. The color depends on what kind of gas is exploding. Greenish yellow or red light will come with Oxygen although a blue light come from white nitrogen. The blending of these colors can also produce purples, pinks and white.
Thanks for letting me know what I've missed. I doubt we could see it in Cornwall so if I want a fireworks display I'll just have to settle for winding up my work colleagues instead!
