Filming...

I’m looking for a geologist for a series of 3 videos I'm making for www.videojug.com. They will be a short, basic introduction to igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. Ideally we would like to find someone who can take us to locations where each type of rock can be seen in situ, and/or show us samples in a lab. We are based in London, but could possibly travel to a suitable location/expert. Please get in touch if you know of someone suitable.

Not with a 10' barge-pole

I might have been interested as I've just started creating my own geology videos but I checked out your site.

If the rest of your site has the scientific validity of 'Professor Gizmo's' geology videos (http://www.videojug.com/interview/fun-science-planet-earth) then I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot barge-pole.

Just a clue - continents don't float on molten lava!!! (And that's just for starters)

Professor Gizmo

Sorry you feel that way. But I would just point out that 'Professor Gizmo' is clearly aimed at children, and trying to get them interested in science. So he explains things in simplified terms that they can understand. If he used the rigorously correct language of experts, it would just go over the heads of young kids, and alienate them.

Well I have to say the same

Well I have to say the same here. It's ok if you want to teach the kids but telling them the earths core is molten and liquid is very far off the truths. I do not think small kids have a problem understanding that the earth core is solid and has a plastic mantel and plates moving on them like on....hmm...pudding.

 Yes still highly simplified.

'Professor' Gizmo

It's not about using the language of children - it is getting basic facts correct.

Telling kids that the continents float on liquid magma is like telling them the Earth is flat.

It might be easier for them to understand but it is fundamentally wrong.
