Mon, 01/04/2010 - 15:39I don't use the blogs but I think that the polls are quite an interesting feature. I've used them a couple of times and the answers back have been, well, interesting (damn, why did no-one buy me a thesaurus for Christmas!).
Why not get rid of some of the older / less interesting polls but keep the feature to add new ones?

Wed, 01/06/2010 - 08:22Hello,
Done and with no content deleted. Our spamassassin folder occupied some 350Mb which was the size of the site itself. (This folder doesn't actually contain spam, but the Basyian rules for filtering spam, which I think shows how much rubbish goes through the GR mail system!) The folder is deleted and I've added a spam filter elsewhere in my email chain.
Everything should be back to normal - please do let me know if not.

Thu, 01/21/2010 - 14:13I do read the blogs and sometimes answer them.
Also I feel it is useful for 'outsiders', prehaps non geological people, who are looking for a way to identify something, to join and do a post. It may encourage them to take more interest in geology. We must encorouge!!!

Submitted by Jon on Thu, 12/24/2009 - 11:40.Hello,
The site now occupies 750Mb of disk space which happens to be exactly the same amount as our hosts allow us. In order to keep the site running, we need to free up some space. Therefore, in the New Year, I will delete forum posts with a last reply of more than 2 years ago (unless I deem them useful enough to keep), and any users that haven't accessed their account in over 2 years.
In addition, what do people think about deleting the blogs and polls, which are rarely used and viewed portions of the site anyway? Would people miss them? Are they useful?
Thanks!
