Thank goodness you're back
Mon, 03/05/2012 - 20:11Thank goodness you're back Jon. Perhaps some sanity will return now. I've had a terrible job keeping this lot in line!
John
PS how are you both?

Talking of which Ben, what have you done with your lady? Not seen or heard from her lately.

Lol John. We've both been
Tue, 03/06/2012 - 10:56Lol John. We've both been very busy recently. I was made redundant in January so I've been looking for work (which is a job in itself), and Jenny has been equally busy working hard, organising (me for the most part, for which I'm very grateful), and making lists!
lol I guess this is a
Tue, 03/06/2012 - 22:42lol I guess this is a reunion of sorts
I've been temping and marketing my novel, as well as learning to drive. Very scary! But it's time that I grew up...bit like leaving Neverland
How are you doing John?
And Salisbury is a lovely city other Jon!

Tue, 03/06/2012 - 23:37I'm fine thanks Jenny. The foot 'heeled' up nicely, and I went on a field trip to N. Wales and Anglesey last weekend. Feel much better for that alone!
Sorry to hear you lost your job Ben, although I have no idea what you did away from this cyber world. Best of luck. There are jobs out there.
So Jenny. Whats the lists and organisation for? Anything special perchance???? You two had better tell Jon and Kate. It may be against the site rules.
Jon, I'm only 25 miles up the road - near Devizes. I am doing astreet fair in Tollard Royal on 17th - St Patricks Day with the Anonymous Travelling Market. I shall be in a Guiness top hat if you can make it there. I believe its round/near a pub called The Lammar Tree.

Lol most of my lists are
Wed, 03/07/2012 - 23:03Lol most of my lists are about job hunting, sorting out my old university's animal ethics society and marketing my book, but some organisation is involved in planning the wedding
Glad to hear you're out and about and that the trip did you some good. It can really make a difference to get away from the norm and get back to nature! Hope you enjoy Paddy's day too
What did you get upto on the field trip out of interest?
So when is the wedding? Or
Wed, 03/07/2012 - 23:46So when is the wedding? Or is it on a need to know basis????
The field trip was A level stuff. You know, dragging the answers out of them. Like pulling hens teeth. Looking at melanges, there's a nice cross section through a drumlin, which won't last too long I shouldn't think, the blue schiest under The Marquis of Angleseys column. Went to Parys Mountain. The guide book says there is no longer any sign of the copper minerals which made it famous. Found somme very small pyrites, some gelena and some sphalerite, but it isn't a place I'd rush back to. Couple of quite interesting coastal walks. Several pleasant hostelries bothin in Carnarthon and outside. Stayed in Totter Independant Hostel. £15/night. incl milk, breakfast (toast cereal, tea, coffee sugar) and spotlessly clean.
Lots of snow on the mountains on Sunday morning so we went back to Anglesey rather than risk seeing nothing.

Parys Mountain can still
Thu, 03/08/2012 - 07:39Parys Mountain can still yield some interesting stuff if you know where to look. In amongst some of the big boulders in the side of the opencasts and various "caves" you can still find pisanite and melanterite in sizeable chunks but I wouldn't encourage students to go poking around as some of these are quite dangerous. There is one spot which isn't difficult to get to which has a few curved melanterite crystals growing out of mud. Apart from that it's an impressive place.
Hi All, Jon first of
Sun, 03/11/2012 - 12:05Hi All,
Jon first of all great to see you back
And secondly yay for us all being back ! (I finally managed to get a decent internet connection in Australia (which was really hard considering most companies are still relying on Dial-Up and the broadband here is the equivilant of 60 quid a month)
Hope everyone is good
lol despite the school kids
Sun, 03/11/2012 - 15:13lol despite the school kids and the weather, it sounds like it was quite a decent little trip John, and it does get you out and about! It's been too long since I went on a geology field trip. Have to get Ben to take me somewhere soon. We are also looking at going to Iceland for our honeymoon which would be fun.
As for the wedding...it won't be for a while yet. We're still in planning stages at the mo and I for one need to get a decent job to save up!
So has anyone thought anymore about a GR expedition?
These 'kids' were Upper
Mon, 03/12/2012 - 09:57These 'kids' were Upper 6th, so wouldn't really appreciate being termed 'kids' any more.
If you are going to Iceland for your honeymoon - sorry - but we're all coming!!!!!
Yes, Gus, Still got the gold panning trip in mind for the end of September. But I'm still getting invitations to various events, and a lot of organisers are now looking at September as still being viable. Used to be empty except for the Hampshire Mineral & Fossil Show.

Hello again
Submitted by Jon on Sat, 03/03/2012 - 16:03.Hello folks.
I've been away from the site for a while and was very surprised to find that it was up and running so well after I've neglected it for so long. It's even nicer to see some of the regular faces still around!
Katie and I have been moving around the country following work. We're now in the lovely city of Salisbury, which happens to be about equidistant from Bath and London where we work.
So, after neglecting it for so long, it's time to start paying it more attention. So, hopefully I will be more visible from now on, but I will be working away in the background on new content.
Hope to see you around!
