With the forthcoming upgrade, Katie and I have decided to ask if members would like to be reviewers or moderators. This is to take some of the load off us. Moderators are responsible for the forums and links. I rarely have to use my moderating powers, so it would be straight forward. If you would like to be a moderator, then please get in touch (PM or email). Please give details of any previous moderating experience and other forums you frequent (including username) in your message.
We also require reviewers to review submitted material to the site. Reviewing images and glossary terms is straightforward. Tutorials and articles are more arduous. The idea is to check scientific validity and increase clarity of the work. You are required to be constructive at all times when reviewing material. Again, if you wish to be a reviewer, then please get in touch. Please give any qualifications or experience that you feel are relevant. For the role of reviewer, we ask that you have a degree in an Earth Science (or similar) or be towards the end of an undergraduate course in Earth Sciences. Please also state your area of expertise.
For both roles, we will select a small group of people, based on their past experience and the contributions already made to GeologyRocks. There are a limited number of places for these roles, so please don't be discouraged - we will be asking again in the near future!
More information on what is required for each role will be uploaded next weeked (20-21/10/07). Depending on responses, we will announce the new moderators shortly. Reviewers will remain anonymous and applications for this role will be ongoing.
