I did reply to an email regarding this; it's copied and pasted below.
This is due to your picture being too large (in terms of file size) for the upload to complete before the PHP on the host chooses to end the program.
To get around this, make sure the picture is less than 1Mb in size and it should then work OK. To reduce your image file size you can either:
1) Reduce the actual pixels (i.e. from 2048x2048 to 1024x1024) - try and keep the aspect ratio the same.
2) Increase the JPEG compression. This is usually set up as an "image quality" parameter when saving. Putting it at around 75% quality (or 25% compression) reduce file size significantly while not affecting the image too much. JPEG is what is known as a "lossy" compression algorithm. It throughs away data (that is not meant to be visible) to reduce the amount of data stored.
Lots of free image manipulation programs can do both these things.
