GeologyRocks v3
Tue, 12/12/2006 - 09:35No re-regestering required. Your accoutns (along with points, rank, websites, etc, etc, etc) will be transfered over. All exisitng material you've submitted (including stuff I've yet to put up  ) will also be transferred
GeologyRocks v3
Tue, 12/12/2006 - 11:42You can try out the new (very incomplete site) here:
http://drupal.geologyrocks.co.uk/
Your exisitng login should work ok. Anything you do will probably be wiped as I'm going to do a clean re-install soon to get rid of rubbish I've tried and that didn't work.
You can try adding material etc. You may get some strange emails if you do, so don't be alarmed if that happens Anything you do add will not be there for long.

Tue, 12/12/2006 - 20:48Probably best not as I'm wiping the database this weekend (i.e. erasing all the data), so they'd be lost. Best hold on to them for now and I'll let you know when the new site goes live.
Good to know there's more material to add though!

Wed, 12/13/2006 - 11:17Lol. Well Done Ben!
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.
It's an XML file is updated periodically (and automatically) and can give you the latest "news" from a site. A lot of sites now use them with the idea being a user can subscribe to the "feed" and check it periodically for updates to the site. Anything that catches their interest; they can click on it and go to the site to read the full article/post/comment/random stuff. It's a simple way to check a site has been updated without actually visiting it. I use them a lot for news from the BBC and tech news sites. It's quicker for me to scan a list of headlines than to go to the site and look.
Does that help?
A more techy description is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(file_format)
(PS the link doesn't like being an actual link because of the brackets: it'll have to be a copy and paste job)

Sun, 01/07/2007 - 10:29More stuff on GR3. I've written a document detailing my plans for the site over the next 5 years or so. You can view it here:
http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dfmmhq3f_1cg5chf
or here:
http://drupalgeologyrocks.blogspot.com/
The first link is probably the best place to look at it.
I'd be very interested to hear people's thoughts on this, so feel free to comment here or on my blog. More stuff about GR3 coming soon...
