The inaugural meeting for the new Young Geoscientists Group (YGG) is being held on the 12 The YGG aims to provide a forum for networking, support and guidance for early career (post–graduation and pre-chartered) Geoscientists. The Group is open to those employed in all fields of Geology and Earth Science from postgraduate studies and research, to industry, consultancy and teaching. The Group is initially starting in the Midlands National Role Out is planned for 2009. The first meeting will be held in the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences at the University of Birmingham. A pre-meeting reception with finger buffet starts at 6.30pm in the Lapworth Museum. The main meeting will be held from 7pm-8pm. The meeting will be followed by a wine reception in the Lapworth Museum and a curry and beer in Selly Oak afterwards. Future meeting dates: July 7 followed by Group Social. September Location and Date TBC: YGG Presentation Evening October: Social Event TBC Meetings will comprise a mixture of workshops, presentations, poster evenings and social events.
