Introduction

This page gives a list of UK unversities offering geology, geophysics and geoscience degree courses. The basic information has been taken from the University and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) website www.ucas.com. UCAS should be considered the definitive site and if you need any information about applying for courses please go there. It also contains many more geology related courses including joint degrees with other subjects and specific topics such as applied geology, palaeobiology and geotechnical engineering and you are strongly advised to visit the UCAS site for a complete list.

Geology/Geoscience Degree Courses

Bachelors (BSc/BA) degrees are typically three year courses (except in Scotland where they are four). Some universities offer four year undergraduate masters courses (MGeol/MESci/MSci/MGeoscience) as well.

Earth System Science Degree Courses

Earth System Science is a new discipline treating the Earth as a planet and studies the inter-relationship between the geosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere and atmosphere.
